Broadening Choices for Older People (BCOP) is recruiting for a finance team leader to join our friendly finance team based at our Support Office in Stirchley, Birmingham.
BCOP operates three nursing care homes and a number of independent living, supported housing and almshouse schemes across Birmingham. As a charity with more than 80 years of experience, we are committed to helping older people live the best version of later life through high-quality care, housing and support.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work closely with the Head of Finance, leading key financial processes and supporting the continued development of our finance function. You'll play an important role in ensuring the charity has robust financial systems, accurate reporting and strong financial controls that support our long-term sustainability.
As Finance Team Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the finance team, ensuring the smooth delivery of all core finance activities including sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll support, banking, nominal ledger and management accounts.
Working alongside the Head of Finance, you will help deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain effective internal controls and support managers across the organisation with financial guidance and training.

This is a varied, hands-on leadership role that combines technical accounting responsibilities with team management, continuous improvement and supporting the wider organisation to achieve its objectives.
We're looking for an experienced finance professional with at least three years' experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of financial management, accounting systems and internal financial controls.
You will ideally be AAT qualified or actively working towards your qualification, with experience of producing management accounts, reconciliations and financial reports. Experience within the charity, housing or care sectors would be an advantage, although not essential.
You'll be an organised and proactive individual with excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. You will enjoy working collaboratively, supporting colleagues and developing others through coaching and mentoring.
Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to colleagues who do not have a finance background. You'll also be committed to continuous improvement, delivering value for money and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
