Our Board of Trustees have a unique and important role as they are responsible for overseeing our operations, strategic direction and ensuring that we meet legal and financial obligations. They have a duty to make sure we meet our core purpose as a charity and that we are doing all we can to achieve our aims. They review performance and ensure that robust systems of accountability and control are in place

Formerly Director of Care for Seddon Developments, Debbie has 15 years’ experience within the Care and Retirement sector devoted to improving the choice and quality of housing and care options available to older people.
Now an independent consultant, Debbie continues to volunteer with the Alzheimers Society as an ambassador and to work with the Housing LIN (Learning Improvement Network) in providing advice and research to the sector on improving welfare and choice for all.

A qualified social worker with an MBA in public sector management, Tapshum’s career in social care spans over 40 years. Having served for 8 years as Executive Assistant Director of Social Work Services for Birmingham City Council, Tapshum retired in 2018. However, her involvement in community development work continues, and Tapshum was awarded an MBE by the Queen for services to social work and community work. She is also a trustee of the Apna Ghar Day Centre for Asian elders.

A qualified nurse, Peta has held several senior roles, including clinical, managerial and commissioning of services within the social care sector. She now owns and runs a company which provides homecare to those in need of companionship and social care.
Peta has a passion for ensuring quality outcomes for older people and those living with long-term conditions which impact the quality of life. She is also involved in a local branch of the Dementia Action Alliance Group.

Graham has worked in senior finance roles for the last 40 years, both nationally and internationally, with a focus on Financial Reporting and Compliance/ Balance Sheet integrity. Whilst not having worked previously within the Care Sector, Graham brings his extensive financial experience to support BCOP in improving financial controls and transparency of the finance challenges facing its services.
Joined the Board June 2022
Helen joined as Chief Executive Officer of BCOP in June 2022. As a Registered Provider of social housing, CEOs typically sit as a trustee of the Board. Helen has worked in social housing, care and support for 30 years, mainly within the charitable sector, and has worked with a range of vulnerable customer groups. Helen’s wealth of experience includes business development and capital programmes, as well as senior operational management at local, regional and national level. Helen has also held registered manager positions in care and nursing homes.

Nigel is Group Chief Executive of Trident Group, which he joined in September 2023. He is passionate about the social purpose of housing associations and that the voice of tenants is firmly at the heart of this. He has experience supporting the work of the National Housing Federation, Northern Housing Consortium and Housing Association Charitable Trust at Board level.

Lydia has held various marketing roles since graduating with a degree in marketing with management 10 years ago. Her marketing experience covers broad communications roles and more specialist social media and digital marketing positions. For the past 7 years Lydia has worked in charity comms, including roles in hospice and disability charities where she has developed an interest in the care of older people.

Zahid is the Principal and Chief Executive of EMBS Community College which engages adults and young people from a variety of disadvantaged backgrounds. Zahid joined the College as he believes in inclusive, quality education that engages, inspires and delivers in meeting the needs of all members of the community in an environment of respect, inclusion and excellence.
Previously Zahid managed and delivered youth and community services in school and community settings at the Shifa Trust and coordinated Higher Education Summer Schools and Taster days at The University of Liverpool. Zahid was also President of FOSIS (Federation of Student Islamic Societies). Zahid studied Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Liverpool and has completed a number of post-graduate studies in Philosophy, Educational Psychology, Educational Leadership & Youth and Community.

With over 20 years’ experience across social housing and financial services, Oluwatosin brings extensive expertise in leadership, governance, customer-focused services, and organisational improvement. She has dedicated her career to improving outcomes for individuals and communities, with a particular focus on supporting people through effective services, financial inclusion, and sustainable solutions that promote independence and wellbeing.
As a Trustee of BCOP, Oluwatosin brings experience in governance, risk management, performance oversight, and strategic decision-making. She is also a Trustee of Women on Assignment CIO and has held senior leadership roles within the Chartered Institute of Housing, including Chair and Vice Chair of the CIH West Midlands Board. A Chartered Member of the CIH, she is passionate about contributing her skills, experience, and collaborative approach to help organisations strengthen communities and create positive, lasting social impact.
