Dancing through the decades at Neville Williams House

22 May, 2026

Residents, families and staff at Neville Williams House stepped back in time for a joyful afternoon of music, dancing and celebration as part of BCOP’s 80th anniversary year.

The home was transformed for the occasion, with the entrance hall, lounge and pub beautifully decorated in a colourful “80 Years” theme, complete with banners, bunting and handmade decorations that created a wonderful party atmosphere throughout the building.

A live DJ kept the celebrations flowing with music and dance styles from across the decades. Residents and guests enjoyed everything from the Charleston, swing and jive to line dancing, rock n’ roll, reggae and the twist. One particularly special moment came during a heartfelt “Last Waltz” for Libby, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Many staff members embraced the spirit of the day by dressing in costumes inspired by different eras, adding even more fun and laughter to the celebrations. Residents, relatives and visitors joined in the dancing throughout the afternoon, creating a wonderful sense of togetherness and community.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious selection of refreshments, including cakes, snacks, Prosecco, Buck’s Fizz and fruit juices, giving everyone the chance to relax, socialise and continue reminiscing between dances.

The event was one of many celebrations taking place across BCOP during its 80th anniversary year and perfectly reflected the warmth, companionship and joyful spirit that continue to define life at Neville Williams House.

Most importantly, it was an afternoon filled with smiles, shared memories and moments that will be remembered for a long time to come.
