Residents, visitors and local communities will now be greeted by bright new signage across a number of BCOP housing schemes, helping to create a more welcoming and recognisable presence throughout Birmingham.
New external signs have recently been installed at BCOP’s sheltered housing schemes — Whitley Court, Edgcumbe Court and Harvey Court — as well as across independent living sites including Yeoman Hopkins, Wiggin Cottages, Newman Court, Emma Ball Homes, Frew Lodge and Walford Turner Homes.
The new signs proudly feature BCOP’s modern branding, including the charity’s distinctive pink heart designs inspired by artwork created by nursing home residents. The heart motifs form a key part of BCOP’s visual identity and reflect the organisation’s belief that “our care comes from the heart.”
Alongside the updated signage, new noticeboards have also been installed at selected schemes, improving communication with residents and visitors while helping each location feel even more connected to the wider BCOP community.
The refreshed look follows BCOP’s established brand principles, which were designed to create a warm, accessible and consistent identity across all services. The brand guidelines describe the resident-created hearts as a way of “placing residential drawings at the centre of the design process” while creating a recognisable and flexible visual style.
The signage also uses BCOP’s carefully selected colour palette, including the charity’s signature pink highlight colour, designed to bring warmth and personality while remaining clear and accessible.
As a charity supporting older people through sheltered housing, independent living and nursing care across Birmingham, BCOP believes that the little things matter — and that includes creating environments residents can feel proud to call home.
The new signs not only improve visibility and wayfinding for visitors and professionals, but also help strengthen the identity of each housing community while respecting the individuality and character of every scheme.
From traditional almshouses such as Wiggin Cottages to modern supported living schemes, the updated branding helps tie together BCOP’s housing services under one clear and welcoming identity.
After all, first impressions matter — and these schemes are now looking brighter than ever.
