Street Party on Sensory Street: A 1946 Celebration at Robert Harvey House

Join us at Robert Harvey House as we step back in time for a truly special afternoon marking 80 years of BCOP.

On Saturday 25th July, our unique Sensory Street will be transformed into a charming 1946-style street party, bringing the spirit of post-war celebration to life. From 2:00pm to 4:00pm, residents, families, staff and friends are warmly invited to come together and enjoy an afternoon of music, memories and community.

Expect all the hallmarks of a traditional British street party, with a touch of vintage flair:

• 1940s-themed decorations along Sensory Street

• Residents and staff dressed in classic 1940s fashion

• Music from the era to get toes tapping

• Refreshments inspired by the time

• A relaxed, sociable atmosphere filled with reminiscence and storytelling

This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate not only our 80th anniversary, but also the history, resilience and community spirit that has shaped generations.

Dress to impress

We encourage guests to join in the fun by dressing in 1940s-style outfits—think tea dresses, braces, hats and a bit of wartime charm. If nothing else, it’s a fine excuse to dust off your best “make do and mend” look.
