Our new weekly arts and crafts clubs at Edgcumbe Court and Whitley Court are already proving extremely popular with residents.
Each week brings a variety of creative activities including jewellery making, chalk drawing, stone painting and seasonal decorations. At the moment, there’s a real sense of anticipation as residents prepare for spring by repainting garden ornaments and adding fresh colour to outdoor spaces. There’s nothing quite like rolling up your sleeves and making something with your own hands — and the conversation flows just as freely as the paint. We welcome older local residents from the Bartley Green and Handsworth Wood communities to come along and join us.
These sessions have been made possible thanks to the generosity of Amazon and local businesses, working in partnership with the BVSC Birmingham Multibank.
The Birmingham Multibank is an award-winning initiative that redistributes surplus goods from companies to charities supporting individuals and families experiencing hardship. Operating as a community donation hub, it ensures high-quality items reach those who need them most through trusted frontline organisations.
For BCOP, this support means our Tenant Support Officer, Vicky Hall, can source resources and materials suitable for every season. Whether it’s spring garden decorations, summer crafts, autumn displays or festive creations, the Multibank allows us to keep activities fresh, relevant and engaging — at no cost to residents. The groups meet at Edgcumbe Court in Bartley green on Tuesday mornings and at Whitley Court in Handsworth Wood on Wednesday mornings. See our events page for details.
As Brian Carr, BVSC Chief Executive, describes it, the Multibank focuses on “matching the resources of companies with the needs of local families via the support and expertise of local charities.”
We are incredibly grateful to BVSC Birmingham Multibank, Amazon and all contributing local businesses. Their generosity is helping our residents stay creative, connected and inspired throughout the year.
