Housing with BCOP

Comfortable, affordable homes for over-60s across Birmingham
Supporting independence with peace of mind

BCOP’s housing schemes across the city provide affordable rented accommodation for people aged over 60, or 55 with disabilities.

A range of homes to suit your lifestyle

We provide:

  • Self-contained one-bedroom flats and bungalows
  • A small number of two-bedroom properties
  • A 24-hour emergency alarm system in every property
  • Property and garden maintenance by BCOP’s team

Our schemes are designed to support independence, dignity and security — with two types of housing available:

  • Sheltered housing, which includes regular visits from our team of tenant support officers
  • Independent living, for those who wish to live completely independently but benefit from having a fair, experienced landlord

Every home is maintained by BCOP’s own in-house maintenance team, offering a responsive and friendly service that keeps properties safe, clean and comfortable.

Housing, allocations & the application process

What you need to know

If you’re looking for safe home for yourself or a loved one, there is a lot of information to take on board.  We’ve produced some easy to read factsheets to help you understand the application process and answer some common questions about fees, services, allocation and safety.

Housing brochure

Our housing brochure provides a clear and helpful guide to the range of affordable, high-quality housing options BCOP offers for people aged 60 and over (or 55+ with disabilities) across Birmingham. It outlines the difference between our Supported Living and Independent Living schemes, the features of each property, and how to apply.

How does BCOP allocate available properties?

As a social landlord, we allocate housing according to need. Not everyone over 60 will be eligible. Need is assessed using the information you provide in your application form, according to your medical, social and housing circumstances. If you are eligible but we have no properties available, you will be placed on our waiting list.
