We are delighted to announce that Robert Harvey House Nursing Home has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.
The home has been named as a finalist in the Palliative Nursing Home Provider Award category at the Palliative Care Awards 2026, with winners due to be announced at a ceremony taking place at the Hilton Bankside in London on 2nd July.
The award celebrates nursing homes that provide outstanding care for people living and dying in later life. It recognises innovative, quality-driven and person-centred providers that make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing, comfort and dignity of individuals during their end-of-life journey. Judges also look for a strong culture of wellbeing, workforce development, community involvement and partnership working to deliver seamless care.
As part of the judging process, members of the Robert Harvey House team recently attended a panel interview, where they shared the home's approach to supporting residents and families through one of life's most important stages.
At Robert Harvey House, end-of-life care is about far more than clinical support. The team is committed to ensuring every resident is treated with dignity, compassion and respect, while families receive reassurance, comfort and practical support when they need it most.
The home operates as a true "home for life", enabling residents to remain in familiar surroundings, cared for by people they know and trust. Nurses and carers work closely with GPs, district nurses, hospices and specialist palliative care teams to provide personalised care that focuses on comfort, symptom management and emotional wellbeing.
"What makes Robert Harvey House particularly special is that palliative care is embraced by every member of the team." says general manager Anthea Reid. "From carers and nurses to domestic staff, kitchen teams, maintenance colleagues and administrators, everyone plays a role in creating a calm, caring and supportive environment for residents and their loved ones."
Robert Harvey House is also recognised for its innovative and person-centred approach to care. The home features a sensory room, sensory garden and dedicated dementia-friendly spaces that help promote comfort, connection and wellbeing. Staff are currently introducing Namaste Care, a specialist programme designed to enhance quality of life for people living with advanced dementia through meaningful sensory experiences, touch and personalised support.
Helen Gore, Chief Executive of BCOP, said: "We're incredibly proud that Robert Harvey House has been recognised on a national stage. Providing exceptional end-of-life care is one of the most important responsibilities we have, and this shortlisting reflects the compassion, professionalism and dedication shown by every member of the team. Whatever the outcome in July, being named as a finalist is a wonderful achievement."
