Robert Harvey House recognised in 2025 Infection Control Awards

21 July, 2025

We’re delighted to share that Robert Harvey House has been recognised in the 2025 Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Awards, receiving a Highly Commended accolade for its outstanding infection control measures. In addition, care team member Andreea Caitatu was named a finalist in the prestigious Champion of Champions category, following a nomination by General Manager, Anthea Reid.

Andreea’s recognition reflects her exceptional leadership in embedding good practice across the home. She has shown tireless commitment to supporting and monitoring the whole team’s daily routines, reinforcing the essential role every staff member plays in maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Andrea Reid commented on the importance of the work of Andreea at Robert Harvey House

"Infection prevention is the quiet guardian of care—often unseen, but always vital. A strong IPC system protects not only physical health, but the confidence and trust of everyone who walks through our doors. Thanks to Andreea’s dedication and leadership as our Infection Control Lead, we don’t just meet standards—we set them. Her commitment reminds us that safe care is exceptional care"

The IPC Awards are part of a citywide initiative led by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC). Since 2020, BCHC’s dedicated IPC team—made up of specialist infection control nurses—has supported care homes with training and best practice advice. Every home is encouraged to appoint an IPC Champion, and BCHC is developing a Champions network to share knowledge and continuously improve infection control standards across Birmingham.

At BCOP, we’re proud to back the work of the IPC team and actively support the development of a safer care home sector. Robert Harvey House’s achievements are a credit to the staff’s professionalism and care—and a great example of how collaboration across health and social care can make a real difference.
