Dementia care in BCOP homes

Compassionate, specialist care in a homely and calm environment

Living well with dementia means having the right support, in the right environment, delivered by people who understand each person as an individual. At BCOP, we provide compassionate and specialist dementia care in all our nursing homes, helping residents live with comfort, dignity and meaningful connection every day.

Personalised care and support

When someone joins one of our homes, we take time to learn about their life story, preferences and routines. Our nursing home teams ask detailed questions about health, wellbeing and daily care needs, so that each care plan reflects the person, not the condition. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated by our Care Managers to ensure that support remains responsive as needs change.

Our focus is on maintaining independence and joy in daily life, through person-centred care, familiar surroundings and trusted relationships with staff.

Bluebell Walk – dementia care at Neville Williams House

Neville Williams House in Selly Park includes a dedicated dementia care wing called Bluebell Walk, designed to provide a calm, safe and homely environment for people living with dementia. The layout, décor and sensory features have been carefully considered to reduce anxiety and confusion, while encouraging independence and confidence. Residents benefit from a secure garden, quiet lounges and activity spaces that support both stimulation and relaxation.

Our experienced nursing and care staff work closely with families and health professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality care.

"Dad moved to the wonderful secure dementia unit at Neville Williams House in early 2025, as a broken hip and his advancing dementia meant he needed more support. From the very first day on Bluebell Walk, he was treated with respect and dignity and made to feel like he belonged there - and we as a family felt welcome. As I got to know the carers, I knew that he was in safe hands. They took the time to listen to us and to get to know how Dad liked to be treated and what was important to him. One carer told me "don't worry, we are his family now" - and that sums it up very well, it does feel like a big family!"

Namaste care

All BCOP homes offer Namaste Care, a structured, sensory-based approach for people with advanced dementia. This holistic method focuses on comfort, touch, and personal engagement – helping to reduce agitation, promote calm and enhance quality of life. Our trained “Namaste Champions” lead regular sessions that include soothing music, gentle massage, aromatherapy and reminiscence activities.
