BCOP (Broadening Choices for Older People) has been crowned winner of the Care Home Employer Award at the Great British Care Awards 2025 (West Midlands region).
The prestigious awards celebrate outstanding achievement across the social care sector, recognising individuals and organisations that demonstrate excellence, innovation and compassion. BCOP was also named a finalist in two other categories:
Workforce Development Award
Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award, recognising Praveen Wickramage, Administrator at Anita Stone Court
The regional gala event, held at theICC Birmingham on Saturday 1 November, was hosted by Steve Wallis and attended by hundreds of care professionals. The evening paid tribute to the remarkable commitment of people working across social care — from nurses and carers to administrators, chefs and managers — whose collective efforts ensure dignity, independence and wellbeing for those they support.
In awarding BCOP the top employer accolade, the judges said the charity had:
“Demonstrated considerable acumen and entrepreneurial flair whilst at the same time having a sustained track record of delivering high quality care and managing improvement.”
The recognition reflects BCOP’s strong commitment to its workforce – from continuous professional development and leadership opportunities to creating positive, inclusive working environments across all its homes and housing schemes.
“We are thrilled to receive this award,” said CEO Helen Gore. “It’s a real honour to be recognised for our people-first culture and the care, professionalism and teamwork that define BCOP. Our staff are the heart of everything we do, and this award celebrates their dedication to helping every person live the best version of their later life. During the panel interview with the judges, they noted how everyone involved was clearly committed to staff development, creating a great place to work and building great teams."
